Ridge Merino: Beyond Comfort

I’ve been working with an awesome company called Ridge Merino for the last few months! I am stoked to give you a full review of the products myself and my partner, Pearce, have tested so far!

“Ridge Merino® was co-founded in 2014 by a husband and wife team, Jeff and Susan Russell….

Ridge Merino’s mission is to develop high-quality, high-value Merino wool apparel that performs as well in daily life as it does in the wildest outdoor conditions. Our clothes are clean, simple, comfortable, and chemical-free. Ridge items cost less than you’re used to paying for comparable high-end Merino wool products. Because we sell direct, Ridge has no additional mark-up and lower overhead.

We’re committed to operating in a responsible and ethical manner and working with partners that share those values. Our Merino wool is sustainably sourced, and we donate a percentage of every sale to environmental nonprofits through our partnership with 1% For the Planet, an international organization whose members contribute at least one percent of their annual sales to environmental causes.”

INVERSION MID-WEIGHT CREW – Merino Wool Baselayer:

The first article of clothing we tested was the Inversion Mid-weight crew. Some features include: Long tuck (stays put when tucked into baselayer bottoms for skiing or climbing), discrete thumb holes, 100% merino wool and an awesome fit!

W's Inversion

We wear this climbing, skiing and just hanging around the house. It wicks sweat away from the body and is super quick dry! The best part about this piece is the comfort on my skin. Most merino products I’ve tried can be itchy and cause discomfort under layers. This is a MUST buy for anyone that wants warmth without sacrificing comfort! I also have the matching Inversion Mid-weight Pant that perform to the same standard!

NATURAL PULLOVER HOODIE – Introducing Tencel + Merino:

We hardly wear anything else…The Ridge Natural Pullover is never left behind.

Some features include: A Merino + Tencel mix that offers a feel softer than silk and cooler than linen, long in the body but still provides a flattering look and again, those awesome thumbholes! Both Pearce and I wear this hoody for going out with friends or as a layer when skiing or climbing.

M's Natural Hoody

I’ve washed it multiple times and the softness never goes away! It’s durable, cozy and both Merino and Tencel are more absorbent than cotton and boast antibacterial properties that reduce odour retention in the fabric!

TEAM RIDGE LOGO BEANIE – Merino wool hat:

Logo beanie

Super cozy and can be worn folded or slouched! It’s a 50/50 mix of merino + acrylic. Love this beanie for tossing on after skiing or keeping us warm on dog walks.

If you’re looking for some affordable, durable and stylish merino, don’t over look Ridge! To top it all off, they have impressive customer service and always respond to requests in a timely matter. I am really excited to be advocating for the brand and I can’t wait to watch it grow!

The cons? Well I haven’t found any yet. A brand that works with the environment by giving back and is founded by a couple of outdoor enthusiasts is definitely worth investing in. I’d love to see more of their stuff in Canadian stores but for now you can order through their website: Ridgemerino.com
